wondering how they'll make that work though. I have a theory about that ;) Ashes To Ashes is to be set in the 80's, not 1973. Therefore Gene Hunt and the team in Manchester will have moved on to some degree. Therefore if we take the somewhat supernatural route, then the past timeline is a construct not quite separate to our own reality (a kind of heaven, as described on another board) and comatose/dead people from this world get to enter and interact with this second world. Therefore the "sexy and intelligent" (*gag*) DCI of the new series enters the same world but at a different point in its timeline.
Have you read the "Everworld" series by K.A. Applegate? Similar theme to what I've said above. I think you'd like it :)
