Oh My God

Life On Mars *swoon*

I was quite worried about last night's episode, a little part of me was quite frankly terrified that a fan-bloody-tastic series would be let down by a piss poor ending. But it was brilliant!

I'd been thinking about it before the episode started and I had honestly been wondering about what Sam was trying to get back to, because Maya had left him, he didn't seem to have a lot of friends - lets face it, his friends in 2006 would have visited him if they'd been true friends, all he had there really was his mum.

So I was thrilled when Sam decided to go back to where he could truly feel alive, and there was absolutely no hesitation in that jump, and even though he was actually moving to commit suicide it didn't feel like it at all. As my dad commented later it was a really feel-good ending.

My mum laughed at me towards the end though, I was literally perched on the edge of the sofa saying "Go on! Go on! Go on!" over and over because for a sec it almost looked like Sam and Annie weren't gonna kiss!

When Sam changed the channel at the end and effectively let go of the real world so to speak I almost wanted to cry, there was part of me thinking that he was actually past in the past, regardless of the episode saying it was just a tumour, and that he'd have a happy ever after with Annie and the rest of the gang, and then there was the other half of me thinking 'shit, he's effectively just killed himself completely, and if this is all in his mind then when they drove off in the cortina they were driving right into the afterlife' so to speak, so when the Test Card girl finally switched off the TV that was like Sam and the rest of them dying and fading into TV memory *sniffs*.

Either way it was a brilliant episode, and tuesday nights just won't be the same. Looking forward to Ashes To Ashes starting though, wondering how they'll make that work though. If it was all in Sam's head then none of the characters should be exactly like they were in Life On Mars because everything they said came from Sam's subconscious, so unless the woman involved with it is as screwed up as our Sam they should all be different, otherwise it implies that he actually did go back in time.

Or something like that anyway.

Oh yeah, and before I forget - GO ANNIE! That was one hell of a slap!

Also, theres a song called Here's To The Nights, by Eve 6 - if I ever learn how to make fanvids, that would be the song I would set a Life On Mars fanvid too, for me it seriously fits in with the series *nods* of course I could just be talking crazy talk, but still!
